According to the Guardian, Helen Jenner has been named the new leader of Reform UK in Wales, becoming the party's new head in the Welsh Senedd after narrowly defeating rival Jason O'Connell by two votes.

The Guardian's live coverage of UK politics also reported on the Liberal Democrat party conference in Brighton, where home affairs spokesperson Max Wilkinson criticised Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood's language on migration and accused the Conservatives and Reform UK of promoting anti-migration views. Wilkinson said the Liberal Democrats want to tax large technology companies to help fund a new online crime agency.

Wilkinson also criticised Conservative and Reform UK proposals to withdraw Britain from the European Convention on Human Rights, arguing such a move would not fix the asylum system or stop Channel crossings.
