Egypt: TV Presenter Sarah Khalifa Sentenced to Death
A Cairo court has handed down a capital sentence against the television producer and 11 other defendants for drug precursor trafficking.
According to Egyptian newspaper Al-Ahram, Cairo's criminal court sentenced Sarah Khalifa, known for her show "Difficult Mission" focused on security and crime, to death by hanging. She stands accused of "organizing a criminal enterprise specialized in importing substances used in drug manufacturing for purposes of sale."
Khalifa was also convicted of kidnapping and assault against a young man. Eleven other defendants received the same capital sentence in this case.
