Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he was willing to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin at the G20 summit scheduled for Miami in December, according to reports cited by Le Monde. He clarified that he would attend if his Russian counterpart also participated in the summit.
The two leaders have not met since 2019, according to the same source. Vladimir Putin has not personally attended any G20 summit since that same year, an absence that has continued following Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
This statement comes as Russia launched another aerial offensive against Ukraine overnight Friday to Saturday, according to information reported by Le Monde. The attack involved around one hundred drones and more than fourteen missiles, though Ukrainian authorities have not yet provided detailed figures on damage or casualties.
No official confirmation of Vladimir Putin's participation in the Miami G20 summit has been communicated by the Russian side so far. Any possible meeting between the two heads of state therefore remains contingent on the Russian president's actual attendance at this international event.
