FSB Says It Has Identified All Russian Emigres Working With London

An officer with Russia's Federal Security Service has said the agency has identified all Russian emigres it believes are working with British authorities, warning that UK efforts to create alternative opposition groups are "doomed to fail," according to a report by TASS.

The officer said British attempts to create what were described as puppet organizations under the guise of a democratic alternative, intended to undermine Russia's security, would not succeed.

The claim follows a related statement from the FSB accusing UK intelligence agencies of controlling groups that present themselves as representatives of a Russian opposition abroad, part of a broader pattern of accusations Moscow has directed at Western governments over their engagement with Russian emigre communities.

British authorities had not issued a public response to the claim at the time of the TASS report. The UK has in the past denied similar Russian accusations regarding its support for opposition figures and civil society groups.

The statement adds to continued tensions between Russia and the UK, which have remained strained in recent years over the war in Ukraine, sanctions and a series of competing espionage-related allegations.
