French AI Startup Mistral Valued at Over 21 Billion Euros After Latest Funding Round

French artificial intelligence company Mistral announced Tuesday that it had raised three billion euros ($3.5 billion) in a funding round the company described as the largest-ever European tech fundraising.
The new capital values the Paris-based startup at more than 21 billion euros, according to the company.
Mistral said it is positioning itself as an alternative to larger AI competitors such as OpenAI and Anthropic by offering models that companies can run themselves using their own data.
The company did not immediately provide further details on the investors participating in the round.
