France and Canada Agree to Deepen Economic and Defense Cooperation

According to France 24, French President Emmanuel Macron and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney announced plans to deepen economic ties between their countries following a weekend meeting.

Macron welcomed Carney in Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon, a French territory off the coast of Newfoundland, Canada. The two leaders discussed opportunities to share infrastructure in the space and defense sectors.

France 24 reported the talks come as Canada's trade relationship with the United States deteriorates and as Europe seeks to diversify its energy supplies.
