Federal Minister Calls for New Provinces, Including Hazara, to Improve Governance

ISLAMABAD — Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousaf, who also chairs the Hazara Province Movement, on Wednesday called for the creation of new provinces in Pakistan, including a separate Hazara province, according to the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP).
Speaking at a national dialogue organised by the Islamabad Bar, Yousaf said the establishment of new provinces was necessary to bring governance closer to the people, improve service delivery and ensure greater public access to centres of power, APP reported.
The minister did not elaborate further on a specific timeline or mechanism for creating the proposed provinces, according to the report.
The Hazara Province Movement has for years advocated the separation of the Hazara region from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, citing administrative and developmental concerns.
