The far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) was projected to win nearly 38% of the vote in Sunday's regional election in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, a state in northeastern Germany, according to Le Monde. The projection follows the party's record result in Saxony-Anhalt two weeks earlier, which Le Monde described as a political shock.

In the city-state of Berlin, the radical left party Die Linke won the regional election, Le Monde reported.
