Families Demand Answers Over Salvadorans Deported Under US-El Salvador Deal

About a year and a half ago, the United States deported more than 200 Venezuelans and roughly 30 Salvadorans to El Salvador under a migration agreement, according to RFI. Both governments accused the detainees of involvement in organized crime, and they were placed in the high-security Cecot prison without contact with the outside world, access to a lawyer, or legal proceedings, the outlet reported.

While a political negotiation led to the repatriation of the Venezuelans four months later, the Salvadorans remain unaccounted for, according to RFI. Families of eleven of the men have now spoken publicly, demanding to know where they are being held.
