Exhibition of September 11 Missing Posters Opens 25 Years After Attack
A collection of previously archived photographs of missing-person posters from 9/11 will be displayed to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the deadliest terrorist attack in U.S. history.
Photographer and artist Phil Buehler encountered the first missing poster on September 11 itself, displayed on a bar window in Tribeca that was serving first responders. The poster represented one of many pleas for information about people who vanished during the attack on the Twin Towers.
Buehler, who witnessed the towers collapse from his office window, documented these posters at the time. The exhibition marks a quarter-century since the 2001 attacks and brings together images that have been stored away for years.
