Ex-Greek MEP Files Complaint Against Israeli Spyware Firm Over Alleged Pegasus Surveillance

Former Greek member of the European Parliament Stelios Kouloglou has filed a legal complaint against an Israeli spyware firm, alleging his phone was infected with surveillance software while he served on a European Parliament committee investigating spyware abuse, according to Anadolu Agency.

Kouloglou said a forensic analysis of his device found evidence consistent with an infection by Pegasus-style spyware, technology that has previously been linked to Israeli cybersecurity firm NSO Group and has been the subject of scrutiny across several European countries.

Kouloglou served on the European Parliament’s inquiry committee examining the use of spyware such as Pegasus against journalists, politicians, and activists in EU member states, a panel that produced a series of findings on the unauthorized surveillance of officials and civil society figures.

The complaint adds to a string of legal and political actions taken by European officials who say they were targeted by spyware despite legal protections intended to shield elected representatives from such surveillance.

Anadolu’s report did not specify the current status of the complaint or a response from the company involved.
