Guy Campanile, former managing editor at 60 Minutes who was fired in May alongside several other top correspondents, said in a Facebook post obtained by The Guardian that he and his colleagues were dismissed because they "would not compromise our principles or reputations by jamming unverifiable notions or White House talking points into our reporting."
Campanile, who spent 34 years at CBS News, said he had delayed commenting on his dismissal until emotions settled. The post represents the first public statement from Campanile addressing the May ouster.
