Europe: Toward Banknotes Adorned with Birds and Rivers?
The European Central Bank is consulting European citizens on future designs for currency, with possibilities centered around birds and waterways.

The European Central Bank (ECB) has launched a consultation with European citizens to choose the future designs of euro banknotes, according to France 24.
Among the themes envisaged are birds and rivers, motifs that could adorn future French banknotes, echoing the notions of freedom and borders that these natural elements cross without interruption.
Christophe Bys, head of the Economy and Business section of The Conversation France, detailed the avenues of reflection envisaged as part of this citizen consultation.
The ECB's move is part of a broader process of renewing the visual identity of the single currency, which aims to strengthen the link between European citizens and their common currency.
The precise timetable for the introduction of any new banknotes has not been communicated, as the consultation must continue before any final decision is made.
