EuroLeague reportedly rejects NBA Europe proposal but leaves door open to further talks

EuroLeague has reportedly rejected a proposal from the NBA for a new European basketball competition, according to multiple reports, while reportedly leaving the door open to further discussions. The NBA's plan reportedly envisions a 16-team competition across Europe.

The reported rejection comes as EuroLeague itself moves toward adopting a permanent franchise model, a structural shift that would change how clubs participate in the competition on a long-term basis.

Competing visions for European basketball

The NBA has shown growing interest in expanding its footprint into European basketball, a market EuroLeague has long dominated as the continent's premier club competition. The reported disagreement over format and structure highlights the competing visions each organization has for the sport's future in Europe.

Specific details of the NBA's proposal, EuroLeague's stated reasons for rejecting it, or a timeline for potential future talks were not included in the available reporting.
