EPA Let Bayer Choose Its Own Regulations for Weedkiller Dicamba, Documents Show

The US Environmental Protection Agency allowed pesticide manufacturer Bayer to choose from a menu of regulatory options for the weedkiller dicamba, according to newly released internal agency documents cited by The Guardian.
The documents show that the EPA asked Bayer which regulations it wanted, received the company's response, and then incorporated Bayer's choices into a proposed federal rule, the newspaper reported.
The Guardian said the documents offer an unusually clear look into the pesticide regulation process, which is typically conducted out of public view.
