Ella Langley's song "Choosin' Texas" has become the longest-running No. 1 single in the 68-year history of the Billboard Hot 100, spending 23 weeks at the top of the chart.
The record surpasses the previous mark of 22 weeks held by Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas Is You," which had long stood as the benchmark for chart longevity at No. 1.
"Choosin' Texas" was released last October as the lead single from Langley's album "Dandelion." The 27-year-old singer-songwriter's track has maintained its position atop the chart for nearly half a year.
The Billboard Hot 100, first published in 1958, tracks the most popular songs in the United States based on a combination of sales, streaming and radio airplay data.
Langley's achievement marks a significant milestone in a chart era increasingly shaped by streaming, where songs can maintain popularity over much longer periods than in previous decades.
