Eighteen suspects have been extradited to the United States five years after the assassination of Haitian President Jovenel Moïse, according to Le Monde.

Moïse was killed by an armed commando at his residence in Port-au-Prince in July 2021, the newspaper noted.

His death further deepened turmoil in Haiti, the poorest country in the Americas, which has not held an election since 2016 and has had no president since the assassination, Le Monde reported.
