The singer's remarks came in his first show since Macklemore was dropped from the tour over pro-Palestinian comments, according to The Guardian.

Ed Sheeran opened a solo concert in Philadelphia with comments describing the situation in Gaza as "catastrophic and unjustifiable," in his first show since his tour was plunged into turmoil, according to The Guardian.

Sheeran had faced calls for a boycott after rapper Macklemore was removed from the tour following pro-Palestinian statements he made on stage, The Guardian reported.

Sheeran said his "heart has been broken by the scale of devastation and loss of civilians' lives, of children's lives," and said he wanted his music and shows to focus on unity and humanity rather than politics, according to The Guardian.
