Liberal Democrat leader Sir Ed Davey opened his party's annual conference with a pointed attack on Nigel Farage's Reform UK and businessman Elon Musk, according to The Guardian.
Speaking on the main stage at the Brighton Centre on the first day of the conference, Davey said his party "won't give up the fight" to defeat what he described as "nasty populism," according to the report.
Davey specifically referenced what he called Reform UK's "£72m arsenal of hate and lies," according to The Guardian.
The Liberal Democrat leader urged delegates not to be discouraged despite Reform's apparent hope, as Davey characterized it, "that the anger and the hatred and the lies will grind us down until eventually we just give up," the report said.
Davey also praised earlier speakers at the conference for demonstrating "why we care and why we fight," according to The Guardian.
