Actor Dominic West said Lord Byron is his favourite poet, describing him as a 'proto-rock star,' during a poetry battle against musician Bob Geldof at the Big Brue festival in Somerset, according to The Guardian.

Geldof argued in favour of Irish poet WB Yeats over what he characterized as Byron's excesses, The Guardian reported.

West also said he was not concerned that the rise of AI might diminish poetry, according to the report.
