David Sacks Emerges as Key Voice Pushing Trump Against AI Regulation
The venture capitalist and Trump's onetime AI and crypto czar has argued against restrictions even as lawmakers from both parties call for oversight.
As lawmakers from both parties in the United States have called for regulation of powerful artificial intelligence models, President Donald Trump has remained one of the few prominent voices against it, according to The Guardian.
Trump has called perceived AI dangers a "hoax" and a "scam," arguing the government already has "tremendous CRIMINAL and REGULATORY power over these companies," The Guardian reported. This stance differs from those of his former adviser Steve Bannon and Republican Senator Ted Cruz, among others.
The Guardian reported that Trump's position aligns closely with that of David Sacks, a billionaire venture capitalist and Trump's onetime AI and crypto czar, who has publicly and forcefully pushed back against claims of an impending AI crisis.
