L'Iran a annoncé la saisie d'un drone sous-marin américain dans le détroit d'Ormuz, un point de passage stratégique pour le transport pétrolier mondial. Les autorités américaines contestent cette version et décrivent l'appareil comme « défectueux ».
L'agence iranienne Tasnim a également rapporté mardi soir que l'armée américaine aurait mené une attaque de missile contre un pétrolier iranien près de l'île de Kharg, dans le Golfe.
