Converse pulls ad after critics say it evoked racist imagery

Sneaker company Converse has removed a social media advertisement after critics said it evoked imagery associated with the Ku Klux Klan, The Guardian reported.

The Instagram ad featured K-pop singer Karina wearing a skirt and holding a pair of Chuck 70 sneakers. According to the paper, critics said lighting created a white triangular shape on the skirt resembling a KKK hood, and that the positioning of the sneakers evoked imagery of a lynching. Converse apologized and took down the ad, the report said.
