Colorado State Fires Defensive Coordinator Tyson Summers After In-Game Removal

Colorado State fired defensive coordinator Tyson Summers following Saturday's game, head coach Jim Mora confirmed, capping a day that began with Summers being pulled from his play-calling duties before halftime.

Mora told reporters after the game that Summers was "no longer with the program," ending his tenure as the Rams' defensive coordinator. Summers had already left the sideline during the first half after his play-calling responsibilities were taken away, a move that signaled the program's dissatisfaction with the defense's performance.

A Difficult Day for the Defense

The in-game change and subsequent firing underscore the pressure facing Colorado State's coaching staff as the team looks to turn around its performance on defense. Mora's decision to act immediately, rather than waiting until after the game concluded, reflects the urgency with which the program is approaching the issue.

The move leaves Colorado State searching for a new defensive playcaller as the season continues. It remains to be seen who will take over defensive duties for the Rams going forward.

Colorado State has not yet announced a timeline for naming a permanent replacement.
