CNN, MS Now and Politico Journalists Regain White House Access After Judge's Ruling
A federal judge ordered the administration to restore press access after the outlets' badges were revoked.
Journalists from CNN, MS Now and Politico were granted access back into the White House on Thursday afternoon, following a ruling from a federal judge.
The judge had ordered overnight that the administration must restore access for journalists from the three news organizations after their press badges had been revoked. Initial attempts by the journalists to enter the building were unsuccessful.
Lawyers representing the three organizations said the White House had "repeatedly violated" the judge's order requiring the return of the press badges, prompting the outlets to request an emergency hearing.
After the emergency hearing, and many hours after the judge's initial ruling, the journalists were ultimately granted access to the White House.
The dispute reflects tension between the administration and several major news organizations over access to the White House press corps. It remains unclear whether further legal action will follow regarding the earlier restriction of access.
