Spanish authorities began on Friday transferring migrants who had been camping for several weeks on the beaches of Ceuta, a Spanish enclave located in North Africa, according to France 24.

This operation comes more than a month and a half after the migrant influx that occurred on July 30-31 in Ceuta. Since that date, a significant number of people had settled on the city's beaches due to lack of adequate shelter.

The camp to which they are now being directed has been set up in Ceuta's port and has a capacity of 1,700 places, according to the same source. It is a temporary facility intended to accommodate the people who were previously on the enclave's coastline.

Ceuta, along with its neighbor Melilla, constitutes one of two Spanish enclaves located on the African continent, bordering Morocco. These territories regularly witness attempts by migrants seeking to cross the border to reach European Union territory.
