BRICS Nations Issue Joint Statement Calling for Calm in Middle East
Leaders of the 11-member BRICS bloc, including China, Russia, Iran and India, overcame earlier divisions to release a joint statement at a summit in New Delhi.

Members of the 11-nation BRICS group, including China, Russia, Iran and India, called for calm in the Middle East during a summit held in New Delhi on Saturday, according to a report by France 24.
The group overcame earlier divisions among its members to issue a joint statement addressing the conflict, the report said.
Chinese President Xi Jinping joined leaders from Russia, Iran, India and other member states at the summit in the Indian capital. According to France 24, Xi told the gathering that the war in the Middle East "does not serve the common interests of the international community."
France 24 correspondent Andrew Hilliar provided further details on the contents of the joint statement in a video report published by the outlet.
The BRICS bloc, which now comprises 11 nations, has in recent years expanded its membership and sought to position itself as a forum for coordinating positions among emerging economies on major global issues.
