BRICS Leaders Pledge Expanded Cooperation on Information and Communication Technologies

Leaders of the BRICS group of nations have agreed to expand cooperation in the field of information and communication technologies (ICT), according to a report by the Russian news agency TASS.
In a joint statement cited by TASS, the leaders reaffirmed their support for what they described as "an open, safe, secure, stable, accessible, peaceful, and interoperable ICT environment."
The statement also emphasized that such cooperation should take place "while respecting sovereignty and national security of each country," TASS reported.
The report did not provide further details on specific programs, timelines, or mechanisms through which the expanded cooperation would be implemented.
