Actor Bill Nighy has been named Best Host at the British Podcast Awards, recognized for his work on a podcast in which he serves as an advice-giving "agony uncle" to listeners.
Award organisers praised the show as an "irresistibly endearing series," highlighting Nighy's performance in a format that blends humor and sincerity as he responds to listeners' personal dilemmas and questions.
The British Podcast Awards, an annual ceremony recognizing excellence across the UK podcasting industry, honors hosts, producers, and shows across multiple categories. Nighy's win in the Best Host category adds to a career that has spanned decades in film, television, and theatre.
Known primarily for his work as a screen and stage actor, Nighy's move into podcasting represents a newer chapter in his career, one organisers suggest has resonated strongly with audiences drawn to the format's intimate, conversational style.
The British Podcast Awards have in recent years become a significant marker of recognition within the UK's audio industry, as podcasts increasingly draw mainstream listenership and attract established actors and public figures as hosts.
Details about the broader slate of winners at this year's ceremony were not immediately available, but the recognition underscores the growing prominence of celebrity-hosted podcasts within the UK's rapidly expanding audio entertainment market.
