OpenAI has submitted to an ongoing government inquiry calling for Australia to slow its artificial intelligence use and create stronger security laws. In the submission, the company stated that national leaders have a responsibility to work with other countries to prevent global security threats, arguing that "many of the most consequential risks will not stop at national borders, making international co-ordination increasingly important."

Meanwhile, medicinal cannabis driving laws have advanced in New South Wales, with the legislation addressing clarity for patients, police, and drivers regarding how prescribed medication may affect legal standing. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is scheduled to meet with Apple executives in the United States following the government's social media reform efforts.
