جاء الخطاب في اليوم الثالث من أعمال الدورة الـ81 للجمعية العامة التي شهدت أيضا كلمة للرئيس الفلسطيني محمود عباس.
دافع رئيس الوزراء الإسرائيلي بنيامين نتنياهو عن العمليات العسكرية التي تشنها إسرائيل، خلال كلمة ألقاها أمام الجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة في نيويورك، في اليوم الثالث من أعمال الدورة الـ81 للمنظمة الدولية.
وشهدت الجلسة انسحاب عدد من مندوبي الدول الأعضاء قبل بدء خطاب نتنياهو، في مؤشر على الانقسام الحاد الذي تثيره سياسات إسرائيل داخل أروقة الأمم المتحدة.
وجاء خطاب نتنياهو في اليوم نفسه الذي ألقى فيه الرئيس الفلسطيني محمود عباس كلمة أمام الجمعية العامة، وسط ترقب دولي لمواقف الطرفين في ظل استمرار التوترات في المنطقة.
انقسام حاد داخل الجمعية العامة
ولم تفصح مصادر الأمم المتحدة عن العدد الدقيق للوفود التي انسحبت قبل خطاب رئيس الوزراء الإسرائيلي، فيما لم يصدر عن مكتب نتنياهو تعليق إضافي حول ردود الفعل الدولية على كلمته.
