According to what Axios reported, Qatari mediation is examining an Iranian proposal that includes several elements, among them a ceasefire, the lifting of sanctions on Tehran, and the release of frozen Iranian assets — in exchange for reopening the strategic Strait of Hormuz and resuming negotiations related to Iran's nuclear program.

Trump publicly denied this information without providing additional details about the nature of ongoing communications between Washington and Tehran via the Qatari mediator.

In a related development, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said his country is awaiting a U.S. response he described as "final" on Tuesday, without clarifying the nature of the matter on which the response is expected.
