Argentina has filed a formal protest with the United Kingdom over oil exploration licenses issued for waters around the Falkland Islands, according to a report from Anadolu Agency.
Buenos Aires rejected what it described as "unilateral" offshore hydrocarbon activity in the disputed area, which Argentina refers to as the Malvinas and claims sovereignty over despite British administration of the islands.

Argentina warned that companies involved in the licensed oil activities could face legal sanctions as a result of their participation, the report said.
