Anti-terrorism court orders investigator to submit challan in Radio Pakistan attack case

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Peshawar has directed the investigating officer in the May 9 Radio Pakistan attack case to submit the challan, after the officer requested more time to complete the charge sheet.

ATC Judge Wali Mohammad heard the case on Monday, during which investigating officer DSP Khushal Khan submitted a progress report on the investigation.

Case tied to May 9 unrest

The case relates to the attack on Radio Pakistan's premises that took place on May 9, an incident that occurred amid a wave of unrest and violence against public and government installations across the country on that date. Cases stemming from the events of that day have been proceeding through anti-terrorism courts in various cities.

The court's directive for the challan to be submitted reflects ongoing efforts to move the case through the legal process. A challan, under Pakistani criminal procedure, is the formal charge sheet submitted by investigators that allows a case to proceed to trial.

Further hearings in the case are expected as the investigation moves toward completion and the challan is finalized.
