Amnesty International accuses Iran of crimes against humanity in protest crackdowns

Amnesty International said Wednesday that Iranian authorities committed crimes against humanity during the crackdown on 2022 protests that resulted in hundreds of deaths. The organization stated that Iran's suppression of demonstrations in 2024 displays "the same hallmarks" but on a larger scale.
Amnesty International Iran Researcher Raha Bahreini called for the establishment of an international criminal justice mechanism to prosecute those responsible for the alleged crimes.
