Amnesty International Accuses AFC/M23 of Abuses Against Minors in Eastern DRC
The rights group says the armed group has committed summary executions, torture and forced labor, including forced recruitment of children at mines it controls in North and South Kivu.
Amnesty International has accused the AFC/M23 armed group of committing abuses against minors in the North Kivu and South Kivu provinces of the Democratic Republic of Congo, according to RFI.
The group is accused of summary executions, torture, forced labor and forced recruitment at mines it controls in eastern DRC, RFI reported, citing the NGO. Amnesty International also alleges the group engaged in trafficking of gold and coltan, with bags of the minerals allegedly smuggled illegally into Rwanda.
According to RFI, the NGO's report is based on numerous witness accounts as well as analysis of photos and videos.
