The White House Correspondents' Association (WHCA) denounced on September 19 the Donald Trump administration's revocation of White House press briefing access for journalists from CNN, Politico, and MSNBC.
In a statement, the WHCA asserted that "today's decision to revoke access for journalists from CNN, Politico, and MSNBC violates the First Amendment" of the U.S. Constitution, which guarantees freedom of the press.
The organization, which represents accredited journalists covering the presidency, urged Donald Trump to immediately restore these media outlets' access to presidential briefings, without specifying in the statement the reasons cited by the White House to justify this exclusion.
This decision comes in the context of recurring tensions between the Trump administration and portions of the American press, with several outlets having previously had their access restricted or challenged at the White House.
