95-Year-Old Playwright Debuts Play About Her Romance With Ted Hughes

According to The Guardian, Liz Hicklin, 95, is set to debut her first play, Sylvia Plath Stole My Boyfriend, at the Melbourne Fringe Festival this October.

The play is based on Hicklin's own romantic relationship with a young Ted Hughes, the Yorkshire poet who later married Sylvia Plath. Hicklin has described Hughes as having a "magic touch" felt by many women, saying of her own experience, "It was like I was blossoming."

The Guardian reports that Hicklin nearly missed a ferry connected to the encounter, having initially considered turning back before deciding to continue with the journey.
